Ready?

(15The goat in myth was associated with lechery and dirtiness, and was considered an unclean and lustful animal. But the goat also symbolizes the scapegoat, the person or thing upon whom people project the inferior side of themselves in order to feel cleaner and more righteous. Thus Pan, the Devil, is the scapegoat within which we blame for our troubles in life.~Mythic Tarot

The Hebrew word for goat is "oz"(value is 77). Reduce both the letters to the tarot cards, which is the devil and the lovers. Both cards portraying Adam and eve. In the devil card they're imprisoned and separated, while on the lovers card they're liberated and conjoined. The goat in a sense is symbolic of this process.~Justin Lyons: Kitchen Sync

2015: Year of The Ram, or of The Goat
it begins in Capricon . . .

Happy New Year!

The Devil is the 15th card of the Major Arcana, and is associated with Earth and Capricorn. Though many decks portray a stereotypical Satan figure for this card, it is more representative of bondage to material things than an evil persona. It also indicates an obsession or addiction to fulfilling our own Earthly desires. Should the Devil represent a person, it will most likely be one of money and power, one who is persuasive, aggressive, and controlling. In any case, it is most important that the querent understand the ties that bind are worn freely.~Wiki

Syncing with The Devil . . .

Sympathy?

The novel is actually a story within a story.

A Game?

The Devil is both the Ur-Adversary, and a tremendous source of strength. He represents nearly an inexhaustible source of energy. Battling him gives us strength. Submitting to him completely is ego-death.
As with The Magician, the iconography of most of the standard Tarot suits appear. His wings represent Air, the suit of Swords. The torch in his hands, and the flames in the tail of the male devil represent Fire, the suit of Wands. The grapes in the tail of the female devil invoke Earth; the same grapes appear in most of the cards in the suit of Disks. Only water, Cups are missing. On one level, this is curious; water is of the unconscious, and The Devil dwells in the subconscious. On another level it is heartbreaking; what is missing from the Devil’s realm is The Grail, the kindly blessings of the Cup.
Perhaps to make up for the lack of water, the kindlier aspects of this card can be seen in the Two of Cups.
If the Major Arcana is analogized to the Sun’s circle across the sky, The Devil governs the Sun at midnight, when it is most vulnerable to the Old Night. The ancient Egyptians tell of the serpent demon Apophis, Chaos, who would sometimes lay in wait for Ra, the Sun, as he floated in his boat across the sky piloted by Set (before he fell to the dark side) to be born again in the morning. Sometimes, Apophis would swallow the Sun. Mercifully, the reversals of the night brought Set to an unlikely rescue; he ripped Apophis open and let the Sun escape. Set, The Devil, is the adversary but sometimes, he is our best and only ally.
In Jungian terms, he is The Shadow: all the repressed, unmentioned or unmentionable desires that lurk beneath.
The Devil is related both through his cross sum (sum of the digits) and his iconography with Key VI, The Lovers. Both cards speak to our drives; the drives that take us out of the garden. The central character in each is winged; each lives in the archetypal ether. Each is crowned: the Angel in The Lovers with fire, The Devil by a Pentagram and ram’s horns. Above each rides a naked man and a naked woman. But in The Lovers, there is still some sense of newness, wholesomeness, and hope; in The Devil they are chained by the neck and partially transformed into creatures of the underworld; transformed by their taste of the darkness; by the fruit of the underworld.
The chains are loose. They can be slipped. The Devil’s own torch can light the way out and light the return, back to the surface.~Wiki

Gimme Shelter (making the boat. . .)

Faust

(died c. 1540), German astronomer and necromancer. Reputed to have sold his soul to the Devil, he became the subject of dramas by Marlowe and Goethe, an opera by Gounod, and a novel by Thomas Mann.
DERIVATIVES
Faustian adjective

Faust or Faustus (Latin for "auspicious" or "lucky", but also German for "fist") is the protagonist of a classic German legend who makes a pact with the Devil in exchange for knowledge.

Fuck:
ORIGIN early 16th cent.: of Germanic origin (compare Swedish dialect focka and Dutch dialect fokkelen); possibly from an Indo-European root meaning [strike,] shared by Latin pugnus ‘fist.’

Dan: You think love is simple. You think the heart is like a diagram.
Larry: Have you ever seen a human heart? It looks like a fist, wrapped in blood! Go fuck yourself! You writer! You liar!

Away We Go?

The Fundamental Consumerist Delusion
Consumerism depends on forgetting a truth and believing a falsehood. The truth that must be forgotten is that we humans have already spent millions of years evolving awesomely effective ways to display our mental and moral traits to one another through natural social behaviors such as language, art, music, generosity, creativity, and ideology. We can all do so without credentials, careers, credit ratings, or crateloads of product. Our finest, most impressive goods and services have been endowed to us by our DNA, in the from of physical and psychological adaptations that naturally display our virtues and naturally impress our peers. . . This is a core message from evolutionary psychology: the most precious, complex, intricate, and wonderful things in life are the biological adaptations common across all humans--especially the adaptations that signal our individual differences so conspicuously. We already have everything we could possibly need (84). . . ~Spent Geoffery Miller

present state

There has been a delay, obviously:

I have a need to illuminate my present state. (I wish my state was more present.) I'm in the middle of a psychic drama. It is a crisis of sorts, and I became really aware of it yesterday as I was having a conversation with a Shaman that makes house calls.

I'm currently lacking a cosmology. I, personally, don't have a "complete mythology" that infuses my world with a mystical wonder, a sense of order, and perhaps a purpose.

This really became evident in my conversation yesterday as I tried to logically solve paradox. One (likely) can't unite opposites w/ logic and the mind. And this leads into something interesting. My mind tends to see Either/Or. It is the idea of versus. James Ratte pointed this out in a response to my emotional show of attempting to kill my blog avatar, by sugessting the idea of AND. How about instead of either/or which is the path of imbalance--which is the black and the white, one moves into the grey of AND?

--Thanks James, beautiful advice.

A practice is not about the results of said practice. It is the doing. My practice is writing [obviously], and it doesn't matter what I'm writing so long as I'm writing--Which is all well and good if I didn't have this ego!!!!

I have limited time. My synchromystic pursuits take the time I could be writing fiction. I have two plays, one short story, and my novel that are all demanding attention. These won't go away, but sync compels me otherwise. . .[And then all this competes w/ my children for attention. . .]

I dressed this past Halloween as John Constantine. His opponent is the devil. Our western mind thinks in terms of versus and overcoming. Perhaps I should stop fighting the devil, and embrace and integrate this darkness that I've been fighting since late summer. It's just my unconscious after all.

Forgive me. I'm in limbo. I need to find my path and begin walking. I'm in the darkest part of the forrest, engulfed in the belly of the whale, and I'm searching for light. I'm ready to be reborn!

-happy christmas all.
I think Eunus Noe is about to be reborn as Dionysus!

Countdown to The End . . .

Today is

-my sun's birthday!!!

‎"A challenge has arrived in your life. The situation may be very complex. It may even have profound implications for your life and how you deal with the world. It may manifest itself in the form of a profound inner realignment or the facing of some physical outer predicament. Whether from the labyrinth that is the human mind or from some external source, the challenges that presents itself now must be seen for what it is: an opportunity. If something has been hidden or repressed, if a situation has been left to decay or become unhealthy, now is the time to take control of your fears and deal with the insecurity with courage and integrity. Always be aware that however threatening or difficult this situation is, you can only become stronger and more resilient from the experience of understanding and accepting inner darkness."~Wildwood Tarot

"The guardian spirit of the beast challenges those who would enter the cave of ancestral memory without understanding the nature of their own darkness . . . Before the path may be followed, the Guardian must be faced and mastery of one's own fears achieved."~Wildwood Tarot

"If the Guardian is frightening, it is because we are frightened by our own reflection, our own dark shadow, and it is this element of ourselves we must master"~Wildwood Tarot

Right Word/Wrong Deed

temptation
noun
a desire to do something, esp. something wrong or unwise : he resisted the temptation to call Celia at the office | we almost gave in to temptation.
a thing or course of action that attracts or tempts someone : the temptations of life in New York.
( the Temptation) the tempting of Jesus by the Devil (see Matt. 4).[see Faust, see Pinocchio & Lampwick]

ORIGIN Middle English : from Old French temptacion, from Latin temptatio(n-), from temptare ‘handle, test, try.’
THE RIGHT WORD [The Wrong Deed]
When we are under the influence of a powerful attraction, particularly to something that is wrong or unwise, we are tempted.
Entice implies that a crafty or skillful person has attracted us by offering a reward or pleasure (: she was enticed into joining the group by a personal plea from its handsome leader), while inveigle suggests that we are enticed through the use of deception or cajolery ( | inveigled into supporting the plan).
If someone lures us, it suggests that we have been tempted or influenced for fraudulent or destructive purposes or attracted to something harmful or evil (: lured by gang members).
Allure may also suggest that we have been deliberately tempted against our will, but the connotations here are often sexual (: allured by her dark green eyes).
Seduce carries heavy sexual connotations (: seduced by an older woman), although it can simply mean prompted to action against our will ( | seduced by a clever sales pitch).
While beguile at one time referred exclusively to the use of deception to lead someone astray, nowadays it can also refer to the use of subtle devices to engage someone's attention (: a local festival designed to beguile the tourists).
Entice
ORIGIN Middle English (also in the sense [incite, provoke] ; formerly also as intice): from Old French enticier, probably from a base meaning ‘set on fire,’ based on an alteration of Latin titio ‘firebrand.’

inveigle
ORIGIN late 15th cent.(in the sense [beguile, deceive] ; formerly also as enveigle): from Anglo-Norman French envegler, alteration of Old French aveugler ‘to blind,’ from aveugle ‘blind.’

lures
ORIGIN Middle English : from Old French luere, of Germanic origin; probably related to German Luder ‘bait.’

Allure
ORIGIN late Middle English (in the sense [tempt, entice] ): from Old French aleurier ‘attract,’ from a- (from Latin ad ‘to’ ) + luere ‘a lure’ (originally a falconry term).

Seduce
ORIGIN late 15th cent.(originally in the sense [persuade (someone) to abandon their duty] ): from Latin seducere, from se- ‘away, apart’ + ducere to lead.’

beguile
ORIGIN Middle English (in the sense [deceive, deprive of by fraud] ): from be- [thoroughly] + obsolete guile [to deceive] (see guile ).

deceive
ORIGIN Middle English : from Old French deceivre, from Latin decipere ‘catch, ensnare, cheat.’

guile
ORIGIN Middle English : from Old French, probably from Old Norse; compare with wile .

wile
ORIGIN Middle English : perhaps from an Old Norse word related to vél ‘craft.’

verb ( past clove |klōv|or cleft |kleft|or cleaved |klēvd|; past part. cloven |ˈklōvən|or cleft or cleaved) [ trans. ]
split or sever (something), esp. along a natural line or grain : the large ax his father used to cleave wood for the fire.
split (a molecule) by breaking a particular chemical bond.

verb [ intrans. ] ( cleave to) poetic/literary
stick fast to : Rose's mouth was dry, her tongue cleaving to the roof of her mouth.
adhere strongly to (a particular pursuit or belief)

THANKS!!!!!! (2012 Water Dragon . . . )

leviathan |ləˈvīəθən|
noun(in biblical use) a sea monster, identified in different passages with the whale and the crocodile (e.g., Job 41, Ps. 74:14), and with the Devil (after Isa. 27:1).• a very large aquatic creature, esp. a whale the great leviathans of the deep.• a thing that is very large or powerful, esp. a ship.• an autocratic monarch or state. [ORIGIN: with allusion to Hobbes' Leviathan (1651).]ORIGIN via late Latin from Hebrew liwyā t ān.

Leviathan or The Matter, Forme and Power of a Common Wealth Ecclesiasticall and Civil — commonly referred to as Leviathan — is a book written by Thomas Hobbes (1588–1679) and published in 1651. Its name derives from the biblicalLeviathan. The work concerns the structure of society and legitimate government, and is regarded as one of the earliest and most influential examples of social contract theory.[1] Leviathan ranks as a classic western work on statecraft comparable to Machiavelli's The Prince. Written during the English Civil War (1642–1651), Leviathan argues for a social contract and rule by an absolute sovereign. Hobbes wrote that civil war and situations identified with a state of nature and the famous motto Bellum omnium contra omnes ("the war of all against all") could only be averted by strong central government.

An Image I find very helpful is to liken the ego to a fishing boat. Such a boat can take on only a certain amount of fish, no more than it can hold. The load must be commensurate with its size. What if you're fishing in a small row boat and catch a whale? If you pull it in, you'll go under. This is an apt image because the problem of the opposites is indeed a whale: grapping with the opposites leads directly to an encounter with the Self. There's a beautiful account of this image in Melville's Moby Dick. The whole book is an expression of it, but at one point in the book Melville discusses the fact that the whale has eyes on opposite sides of its head and thus get two completely different images of the nature of reality simultaneously, two opposite images. Melville comments on what a grand mysterious entity it must be that is able to unite the opposites, illustrating specifically how the whale, Moby Dick, is indeed a symbol of Self. Now I grant you, only a few people are meant to go whale hunting. But, if you are one of those so destined, it is more dangerous to evade your task than it is to face it--because the whale will get you from behind.
All right, how does one go about whale hunting? Where are the opposites to be found?~The Mystery of The Coniunctio E. Edinger

2012 – Year of the Yang Water Dragon
What kind of year will 2012 be?   Many expect 2012 to bring about the end of the world, perhaps because they mistakenly think of Mayan or Hindu cosmologies as linear rather than cyclical. From a Feng Shui standpoint 2012, the year of the Yang Water Dragon, brings many possibilities for good fortune.
Most people know that water covers 2/3 of our planet & comprises 95% of our bodies; we simply cannot live without it. In Chinese element theory, water produces wood, which signifies growth and is the natural element of the dragon. The dragon governs east/southeast, wealth accumulation & the hours of 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. Associated with thunder, lightning and arousal, the Water Dragon personifies creativity at its best.
Water Dragons occur every 60 years, so we have had Yang Water Dragons in 1952, 1892, 1832, 1772, 1712, 1652, 1592, etc. Too, the future holds more Water Dragons in the years beyond 2012, in 2072, 2132, 2192, 2252, etc.
In 2012 the Yang Water Dragon Year starts January 23, 2012 and ends February 9, 2013. The energetic high point of the year is the dragon moon, which is from May 20 to June 18 (new moon is May 20, full moon is June 4 and dragon moon is over June 18. June 19 begins the snake moon, which will set up the energy for the following year, 2013, year of the yin water snake.)
Embrace the upcoming 2012 Year of the Water Dragon! Also makes great gifts for people who are Water Dragons (born either between 1/27/1952 – 2/23/1953 OR between 1/23/2012 – 2/9/2013.)  There’s even something for the Water Dragon babies of 2012/2013.

So the Dragon has left us! (And she was a doozy!) It has been quite a year. So much in a tiny little space to be thankful for . . .

Happy New Year!!!

Abe's Axe is a symbol. Like the firey wand of Hermes, it is the conduit for bringing into action manifestations from the creative imagination. He is not killing vampires so much as freeing living dead men. The great emancipator would like to bring you into the 4th dimension of consciousness. He is going to have to kill you to do this, though. Or, actually, just annihilate your ego to transport you. In this instance, his axe is the craft. A craft is both a transport and a skill. The magician's wand is both. A pen can be mightier than the sword. What's your craft? Use your symbol well. . .
